The Europeans disliked the Chinese because they dressed differently, they acted differently and there methods clashed. Another reason was that the Europeans wanted to save and conserve their water supply, since it was limited. The Chinese needed a huge supply of water for their method of mining gold.
They would claim gold and then work together in large teams, often family groups to get more gold. The Chinese would take over areas if there was no one there looking for gold. Whereas European miners would abandon a mining station if they couldn't find gold quickly.
